Our work focuses on experimental chemistry education, the use of digital media in chemistry teaching, and education for sustainable development (ESD). Through collaborations with partners from science, industry, and school practice, we are able to offer a diverse program that is aligned with current developments in the education sector.

Most of our training sessions take place in the facilities of the Chair of Chemistry Education at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Our training offerings are further complemented by external training (e.g., at schools) and online courses.

Focus areas of training

The core content areas of our center are in the fields of

experimental school chemistry

the use of digital media in chemistry education

sustainability and renewable energy

A special concern is to integrate recent developments in the chemical sciences and their diverse applications into contemporary chemistry teaching.

A particular feature of the Chemistry Teacher Training Center at FAU is that it offers courses not only for primary education but also for all school types within the three-tier Bavarian school system.
