Didactics of Chemistry

At the Chair of Didactics of Chemistry at FAU, we combine empirical, chemistry education research with practice-oriented teaching. We are interested in how chemistry-related learning opportunities can be designed to foster successful learning processes among learners and what role individual learning prerequisites play in this context.

For example, we investigate how chemistry-related visualizations can be meaningfully integrated into learning environments and which competencies learners should possess in order to benefit from them. In doing so, we often link our fundamental research interests with established instructional approaches such as context-based learning and the use of digital media.
